NASA Navtex Clipper Internal Battery

I have one of these which has evidence of leakage from the internal batteries. There are three of them bundled together with white plastic and soldered to the internal PCB. Has anyone any idea as to exactly which battery that is easily available that works? From what I can understand it could well be a 3.6 volt Ni Cad pack that has in the past used in wireless telephones. Maybe 400mAh capacity. I suspect the Easy Navtex model is similar.

I took it apart because the screen went blank. Discovered I had to make a repair to the circuit board track because either water got into the bottom of the unit which caused damage to a track or maybe the failed batteries overheated some of circuit track. Either way it now powers up and the screen works but I need to change these batteries.

No nothing about the battery so if thats a no go then try sending it to Nasa ,I have done so with 6 instruments, they can replace and refurb at your discretion, might be a wise choice , I tried repair my instruments got one working via a transformer, replacement , but stumped with the rest so sent them off not overpriced either.

I have always found the technical staff at NASA helpful. Try giving them a call.

That’s what I did and the gentleman immediately gave the correct specification. I do not remember the type, but they are really helpful.
