What DC? What capacitor?
We do use the rigging and it all works well - bringing in signals without a problem.

As mentioned elsewhere, just worried about the possible long-term damage due to
eletrolysis in the rig, the reception will be fine until the mast falls down.

Installed the third below decks in a tucked-away corner.

Had them down in the wheelhouse originally, but I think the ST60s are so noisy
they overpowered the signal. Certainly they make a racket on chan 0 and 16.

I've never understood why people buy Nasa stuff in the first place. It's horribly
designed, has lousy literature, and has poor performance. Is it the irresistible
appeal of a "bargain"?

Agreed unfortunately. Small budget plus the lure of a matching 'weatherman' unit seduced me.
I really wanted the "both at the same time" dual freq unit, but couldn't justify the moolah.

NASA sell ( or did sell) just the plastic base/bracket bit. Quite easy to change have done it 3 times.........ANd now keep a spare in the locker.
