Nasa marine

You're right, of course, but the people who buy Nasa kit seem to be able to cope with the huge inconvenience of getting up to the top of the mast frequently.

I read years ago about all the possible problems with Nasa wind units 'up the mast' so built my own nav mast ontop of the pushpit rail.

However the unit has worked no problem for the last 6 years but in February had to replaced the cups, it took me all of 40 minutes to take it down, replace the cups and put it back up again !! :)

People with NASA wind units get used to going up the mast regularly!

Rest of their kit is above adequate, if lacking in imagination.

The wind unit has excellent green credentials since it seems to be made of re-cycled plastic bottles. Just the whole wind head is not fit for sale.
Me? I'm stuck with one and shell out the £13 for the new cups and replace them and re-align the unit and then a couple of days later go back to the tell tales on the shrouds.
