Hi,

I am going through the usual dilemna of where to site a chartplotter; in the cockpit or below decks at the nav station.

I guess my decision could be swayed if NASA's GPS repeater allowed you to select 'GOTO Waypoint' from a list of pre-programmed waypoints on the chartplotter. ie can I select goto waypoint from the repeater, select the waypoint from a list without going down to the chartplotter? Or does the repeater only show stats about a waypoint that has been manually selected on the chartplotter. ie how clever is the repeater?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Chris

[/ QUOTE ]No, it can't do that. You have to select the waypoint on the GPS itself.

Re: Nope...

As PVB stated you have to select the GoTo from your GPS or plotter.I run a Nasa repeater(above) from my GPS (which is below) & have my Chartplotter mounted at the side of the conpanionway on a bracket(Ram mounting) just under the sprayhood.I like the plotter in the cockpit. With a wheel steered boat you can have it above your wheel.Just my own preference.

Re: Nope...

Chart plotter might as well be up on deck - not much good down below where you can't see it ...

We have: Paper Charts, GPS and laptop down below where they can stay nice and dry(ish). GPS Repeater on deck with the other instruments and a Chartplotter under the spray hood ...

On our boat we have a plotter in the cockpit infront of the wheel with the NASA Repeater at the chart table. In this way the plotter info. is right infront of you when you need it at the helm while lat & long etc is where you need it to maintain a paper chart record incase electrickery fails.

Works well for me.
