Hello

I am looking at Nasa Easy Log and would like to fit on my boat. I use tablet for navigation and do not have a NMEA feed on boat. Information on the Internet is not very informative. Is there something I can buy and connect that will do the job.

OR

I have after a simple GPS Log instrument any suggestions

Not quite sure what you are looking for. If you want speed through the water then you need a paddle wheel transducer type such as the NASA Clipper or electronic log like a NASA Electromagnetic. The former is free standing, the latter can output NMEA 0183 to another device. Neither will output direct to your tablet. The Easylog is just a display that needs a signal from another device.

If you want speed over ground then you need a GPS signal and a device capable of using that to display speed. Many tablets have a built in GPS and a charting programme such as Navionics will use this to display speed over ground on the tablet. Alternatively you can take your GPS from your radio and use an Easylog to display speed - but it will be over the ground and not through the water.

I sail in the Bristol Channel and I like to have GPS speed and Thru the water speed instruments (Nasa Target paddle wheel) next to each other which I find very useful. I had a Chinese GPS instrument which did not record anything under 2 knots and the display was not that good.

So I was looking at a better display from zero upwards that was simple and this seems to fit without too much complications.
