Nanni\'s anyone?

Further to my previous 'Which boat' post, I mentioned that one of the models we were looking at was the Beneteau 9.80. Some of the (admitidly few) nearly new models we have seen in our price range have the Nanni diesels. I know nothing of these so does anyone have any experience with them? Are they any good? Can you re-sell them? Parts/servicing? or should I just avoid and stick with Volvo?

Many thanks for your help.

The small little Nannis are based on Kubota blocks and the larger ones are Toyota blocks.

Up to 130hp are Kubotas (I think) and the Toyota ones are 175 hp up.

Both brands are very reliable.

Re: Nanni\'s anyone?

Nanni engines are based on the KUBOTA Japanese industrial engine range, a very well respected diesel engine. Assembled in France I believe. Should be able to be serviced in most of Europe. Not sure where you will be based but there is an excellent distributor in Norwich - whose name escapes me - who has always managed to get spares for my friends elderly Nanni within two to three days. In my opinion as good as Volvo(which as you may know is based on a Perkins base engine). As long as it starts easily, (it has glow plugs), and gets up to full revs under load, doesn't emit black smoke, has been regularly serviced & winterised, it should be OK.
