Nanni 5 cylinder engine with hydraulic drive

Yup, the rental boats often have this setup, it appears to be tried and trusted. The Nanni is excellent anyway, the hydraulic drive less of an issue than a normal outdrive.

It also allows for strange engine positions, so extra space where it's needed, not 'where the engine has to go'

If this is the 62hp 2.8L 5 cylinder now out of production (there was also a 85hp 5cyl) then certainly not bomb proof!!!! If you look back to a thread of mine in August 2008 I related the tale of my Nanni having the front piston come adrift (little end?) and it being an uneconomic repair. The suppliers Peachments were totally uninterested apart from wanting to sell me another one which in the end was the easiest option. The pistion had made threee large gouges in the cylinder wall and there is very little metal between the cylinders.
