My new boat gets handed over next saturday (23rd) Yippee!!!, and we are having the normal families groups around for the yearly thing on Crimble day and Boxing Day so I wanted to name the boat then.

Whats the convention / tradition, anything I should note, not do, must do??

apart from sacrificing maidens, and buying all members of the Forum a virtual drink, it's the owner's sacred duty to steer south until the butter melts, and then turn right.

Hope all goes well, and that you and the crew have calm seas, and a prosperous voyage !

Re: Makes a difference

...How does the day make a difference? It's the intention and dedication that counts.

Have a good party and spare a liberal thought for the constant state of watchfulness that pedants have to keep over this forum. Good sailing and fair winds.

Re: Makes a difference

Sorry to confuse!
"I,m having the Boat handed over on Sat Yippee"
Normal Members of The Family are arriving Sun Mon.
Abnornal Members will be with You on Sat?

Presuming the Members ,You want to be assembled ,will be on Sun.Mon I suggest either of those two days!

Seriously, what a great addition to "The Festivities".
My thoughts are Boxing Day.
Do the "Normal" stuff on Chrismas Day.
Save the "Ceremony" for Boxing Day as a Bonus for the Weekend and an excuse for further imbibing etc etc(if you need one)!
Is She a new , new boat or just new to You?
Significance of the "Naming Ceremony" is why I ask.

I have PM'd you with our naming ceremony - best of luck and be generous to Neptune with the champagne (and don't use any cheap muck either, it's too important).

Enjoy your new boat and I wish you fair winds.
