If anyone is looking for a company to host their website, under no circumstances consider using Business Serve plc

They suspended my website because they claimed I owed them £140-00. I paid it and then contacted the poeple that run my affiars in London and it turns out that I didn't own the money - Business Serve apologised but would only pass a credit against the next invoice and promised that the suspension would be lifted within 2 minutes. It's getting on to 70 hours since they said they would lift the suspension.

You cannot go far wrong with www.pair.com, they have been in the web site hosting business since the year dot and many internet hosting companies are a value added service hosted on the Pair infrastructure.

Pair.com is US based so a UK focused user community might be better off hitting UK based hardware.

Think of it as a reminder of the cr*p you've escaped. Stay laid back - you're in Latin America after all!

Name and shame it is then!

London Energy:
For charging me at 3x the correct rate for gas following a meter change and then taking 9 months and countless telephone calls to get the money back - Seriously snotty letter in the post yesterday.

APCOA aka Parking Express:
For charging my card twice for parking at Gatwick and then refusing to compensate me for the hassle of copying a bank statement, telephone calls and loss of interest on the money 'robbed' from my account - Equally snotty email earlier.

Swale Motors:
For insisting a van with 4k on the clock needed new wiper blades and for equally insisting the reason the tailpipe was banging against the towbar was because it was a non OEM towbar and had nothing to do with the fact that the tailpipe was straining sideways on the rear rubber mount, "we fitted some cable ties to cure it Sir" - Working on a letter to the Service Manager who was off today.

It's enough to bring out the Victor Meldrew in you!

I take it a nice peaceful weekends cruising would'nt sooth your farrowed brow, sir.
Maybe a little looking forward, rather than backwards is in order.

I have never had a problem with 34sp

£15 per year for 30MB and £5 per year to host domain. 5 emails to that domain. full control of account and emails, i.e. you have full management entitlement. SMTP support is another £15 per year, but I think you use hotmail ?? Might be a handy thing though. Email accessible on line, you can see the size of files before opening and delete without opening, you would be able to log in from the laptop on board without worry.

Excellent back up, good forum with lots of advice covering all aspects of hosting, web design etc (on par with this one).

All paid on line by switch, never needed to contact them by telephone, emails often returned within the hour.

I am a very happy customer. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.topcatsail.co.uk>Woof

I use <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.web-mania.com/>http://www.web-mania.com/</A>

500Mb, unlimited Pop3, free SMTP........... All for £20/year.

Sounds to me like Business Serve do not deserve your or anybody elses business.

Cheers

Wayne

I forgot to add to my previous list:

Halifax Bank:
Tried using my credit card to buy something the other day and it was declined. After later investigation it transpired that some scum had intercepted some credit card cheques in the post and written one for nearly 8 grand.

It would probably be a waste of time me buying a lottery ticket this week.
