There has been a number of postings on the subject. But how to deal with:

A previous owner might have changed the name of the boat without the proper procedure. Wouldn't then trouble pertaining the old old name still stick? Would it be appropriate to include the previous name in the denaming procedure or might that be confusing?!

I'm glad you said that...
I was going to ask if there are any rules vis-a-vis the naming of boats and re-naming them..

I thought I could just get a boat and call it "ye olde knobe extensione"
and be happy... obviously not..

I posted a query re name change disaster a few weeks ago and had a good response. Most ceremonies seem to involve copious champagne consumption (and spillage). Someone did raise this very point but I don't think it was ever answered. My guess would be that the bad luck generated by a name change done in a cavalier fashion would be personal, ie wouldn't transfer to a new owner. However, I could be wrong!

Good luck!
