The Versilcraft design has been around for a while and the hulls were extended and minor adjustments made on the exterior, interior and engine selections.... now guess the heritage for this Italian 45 footer..

while you say the boat takes a lot from the Versilcraft 12.90 Mystere, I see it more similar to the Tecnomarine C55 Maggini, we have one of these in Malta Caliari designs, also another lovely boat
I really love this vintage Italian yachts like Canados, San Lorenzo and Versilcraft etc etc and most them still look good today, and IMO can look special with some minor adjustments
during my trip last Summer I saw also a nice Sanlorenzo 15, ok 15 for 15 metre waterline in length as this boat is bigger in size to a 56 Squadron next to it, it was really well kept with a nice blue hull, extended platform all stainless winches, hyd passarelle etc etc then it had the detroit 650hp which once they ignite they make everything sing (ok may be accept your wallet) but if you can afford such a boat why not

CentroMarine, a small bulder is now buiding under EnterpriseMarine ( www.enterprisemarine.it ).Contacted them and got in contact with the builder who remembered the boat and whom it was built for ... the people I bought the boat from.. and I am keen to get more information on her in respect of construction details, layup etc ... as she is very well built... with Detroit Diesels... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

coincidence I reviewed the EM 600 in begining of this week, they do well in there midsize, Enterprice Marine was founded in 1985

Yup ...my hull was launched in 1982 /3 and there was a couple of them launched as CentroMarine ... Not sure what happened between then and when Nevio Forcellini Mazzoni founded EM..
 
Always liked these boats and went to look at a Mamba up in the Midlands many years ago,it was a wreck under going a (very)slow restoration, with a chequered history to boot.
The boat had been bought from new by somebody unable to keep up the HP payments and the owner had scuttled the beast off Canvey in the Thames.Presumably in order to get ashore safely afterwards .After laying on the bottom it was recovered and over the years made its way north.

I know this is a very old thread (and I'm a raggie!) but I've just been aboard this "Mamba in the Midlands" - Evesham, where I live, to be exact.

Tony is approaching the end of his very slow restoration and tells me that he is hoping to launch in May this year. Of course, I am hoping to be there for this very special occasion.

I don't know if this will be the only Mamba of the original 8 which is still afloat but I guess it will be one of the few! :)

I'm trying to work out how much £50,000+VAT in 1976 is in today's terms. Here's some "pub talk" daft economics: when I was a kid i remember my father bought for our first boat a new Merc 20hp outboard in 1975 at £339 RRP inc VAT. Today it's £2800, so an increase 8.25x. 8.25x £50k + VAT is £475k for a 43 footer.

That makes today's boats, which are much better and better engines, look good value, right?

I was told thathe value of money doubles every 10 years so that makes then quite expensive doesnt it.

I just love the frilly shirts though. Priceless stuff.

Good stuff. It would be great to see pics of the miidlands mamba if possible. Loads of folks on here would be interested in it
 
As a owner of a decendant of Versilcraft's Mystere / Mirage etc., I am always interested in photographs of these boats ... retro-futuristisk is a term I have heard..... but then again, I used to have a 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV, so what do I know?? :)

Stunning boat and picture Alf and was the Alfa the 3.0 litre V6 ?
