Today is perfect….the sea is a deep blue glass surface…and the wind sock looks like it is made of lead. We have planned for this day all week…we are off boating 😎
Unfortunately life isn’t like that 😧. Last night the dog had a medical emergency…on his evening walk I thought he looked like he was passing a stone…and even though he piddled a thousand times, nothing came out. We took him to the emergency vet which obviously isn’t in our town. She did an ultrasound and said it lit up like a snow globe…his bladder is full of crystals.
He had some painful treatment and now he is peeing a little but is totally wiped out
Still, a picnic on the boat while still tied up…what could be nicer 🤷🏼‍♂️🤔

I could use one of those. Got back to boat and found the berth they have moved me to is a stern-to one with posts for the bow lines. Was going to do some practice this afternoon but it's getting a bit windy so I'm unpacking several thousand Euros worth of IKEA and Amazon goods to make the boat habitable.

Those aren't too popular as it can get quite blustery in these parts.
This can make leaving/entering your berth single or shorthanded somewhat challenging.

I used to use Sotogrande Marina in Andalucia quite a bit. There are a lot of those type moorings upstream where the buildings are so you can dock your boat at the bottom of the garden. Lots of people solved the cross wind and more importantly, cross tide berthing by rigging lines from the posts to the shore to stop the boat going sideways.

Yes, had a couple of in- outs this morning and the wind was actually in my favour, coming off Port bow so I was able to get out the side door and get a line on that side post and use it to hold the stern off while getting the two stern lines on. Always lots of people around here to grab those lines. I'll have assistance for the next few weeks as my friend from Guissan is joining me for my first trip down to where he lives then my son and partner are on for two weeks. After that I will be solo for a while so I need to get good or buy the Dockmate ( having the joystick is terrific for docking but being able to carry it with you would be even better). It's very expensive though and Mr Trump has damaged my investments badly and I also need to buy myself some road transport which is what I am looking at this afternoon.

Yes, all the berths here have lines running from the posts back to the quayside although they give enough that you can still bump your neighbours. They also stop your lines slipping down the pole.
