The Final Chapter.
Left my boat at Ashmount after the gathering there, and took it up to Abingdon last Wednesday, 14th.
Entertained some friends on board on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Abingdon. Then proceeded up to Oxford, as far as Osney
Boat getting a bit dirty now, try to keep it clean, but I'll be glad when I can get it out of the water at Poole and give it a good clean.
You may notice in this photo, that I've no anchor down. I usually put it down at night when near civilisation (Oxford, civilisation???), just in case some helpful person decides to untie. Well of course, at Oxford I foregot. Yes, you can guess what happened. I was woken about 3:00am bumping on the wier at Osney. Quite alarming, but no harm done.
My eldest daughter came to visit me on the Saturday, as she went to Uni in Oxford and was keen to go down the river. We stopped at the Kings Arms at Sandford for a liquid lunch.
Carried on down to Abingdon to spend Saturday night on the Abbey Gardens moorings. Who do I find there, but our friend Chris_d in Winning Spirit. Hi, Chris. Foregot to take photos /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Sunday, carried on back down to South Stoke and left boat in Byron's safe hands again. Stopped for lunch at anchor, just above Days. Foregot photos again /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
So now the plan is to leave Byron's on Thursday and head down river. Probably Reading on Thursday night as I hope to meet Col there. Then get to Teddington Saturday night, to get morning tide on Sunday. If all goes well. I might make Ramsgate in one hop. Then, depends on weather, I could be back in Poole as early as Tuesday, but got to have really nice weather for that.
Anyway Laptop still Kaput, and no replacement, so I'll not be able to make any posts on my return trip.
It's been a fantastic trip up the Thames, really glad I did it, or I will be when I get back safely. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
