Hm, various bit of advice flying about

1 Fling loads of money at it.

2 Buy far too much food

3 Fling more money at gear

4 Buy extra water in case the watermaker fails

5 Yes, and some beer as well, good idea

6 Don't be fixed about arrival time. Or indeed arrival country. Or arrival at all, come to that.

7 Blame the crew for busted stuff. For crissakes, i just knew you'd break something again...

8 Dither around a fair bit, everyone does.

9 For seasickness you need itinerolB6 suppositries from that shop in Lausanne.

10 Take other advice with pinch of salt...

I reckon that Matt and Mrs Bunting would make a good sailing team - they could pool together their considerable experience and knowledge gleaned from many transatlantics under their belts, and then publish the Comprehensive A - Z Transatlantic Crossing Guide after pootling across again this winter /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
They might even come and visit us in Barbados?!

Interesting comments. The forums do seem quite self-sufficient in terms of experience and advice.

Maybe I've missed something. Is this not place for 'top tips' or similar, and we should keep those for the magazine? And if so, how do you feel about reading them in a magazine these days?

Ignore 'em Elaine.... they're a bunch of hoary old curmudgeons.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Fer Crissake... TCM didn't even mention to pack lots of bubble bath for onboard spas while crossing.... so what would he know. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've always thought you a fine wee lassie.
I enjoy the articles you write and generally my opinion of you is high.
However - do you not see that the advantage tae putting the tips on here is that people like good self don't have to buy them?

TCM is a first rater - all round good egg of the finest caliper, that said - the daft wee beggar is completely aff his heid and I can't think of a single person who'd be willing tae pay tae read his daftness.

Mmmmmmm, this forum stuff is quite compelling. Is there anything else nice you want to add about me?

Oh no, PLEASE don't answer that.

Anyway I really must go and do the boss's ironing now and I'm afraid I will be some time.

Weel noo - after your last wee sojourn in God's Country, I've been thinking that what you could really do to write about is a proper trip with a few of us. None o' that touristy stuff that you did the last time though - proper west coast stuff...
