The name on our boat was beginning to look a little tatty so decided to upgrade to something more durable and go the SS route.
I asked some friends where they got theirs from and they recommended Smart Marine so I Googled them and got in touch explaining what I wanted and got an almost immediate reply and this was well into a sunday evening as well!
It wasn't until I got that reply that I twigged Smart Marine was our very own PeteM.
Anyway, just wanted to say a big thanks to Pete for providing a great service and a high quality product which matches my requirements perfectly!

Thanks and you're very welcome Lisa. It was nice doing business with you and I was chuffed that it was a word of mouth recommendation rather than you seeing one of my ads or my link.

I twigged it was you as soon as I received your email (the boat name "Lisilou" gave the game away)! I really enjoy producing the letters and I am more than happy to respond to emails (from anyone!) in the evenings and weekends. Furthermore, the profit I make will go towards my new boat.

Anyhow, I'm glad you like the letters and I was please that I could match your old font exactly.

Pete

I'm another very satisfied customer of Pete's stainless letters. Hope to see yours at Swanwick soon Lisa........when I get my alternator fixed......and I can get on my way!

Hi Sara.
They'll be going on this weekend so I'll post a pic once done. As long as I don't mess it up, it should look great as the quality of the letters really is very good. Surpassed my expectations for sure.

I would also add my recommendation, you can just make out the name on the flybridge so you can see your handy work!

Pete, a question.

When you supply cut letters do they come on a sticky sheet to ensure alignment and spacing?

If not I wonder if the use of clear vinyl transfer tape or application tape of the type used when applying cut vinyl lettering might help ensure the letters are spaced and aligned prior to offering up to the boat. That way all you have to worry about is the horizontal alignment which can be achieved with some masking tape as a guide.

If you need some Lisa I could probably drop some into Swanwick on Friday.

Henry :)

Pete supplied mine with a plastic template, which I taped to the boat, then stuck the lettering on. Made the job of alignment very easy.

Henry, they are usually supplied with a disposable vinyl template with the letters cut out. So the customer applies the template then places the letters through the holes in the template. All the comments that I've received confirm that it's a straightforward process. Occasionally I have a template (it's what most people would recognize as a stencil) laser cut in card and this can be attached with some masking tape.

Bear in mind too that a set of 7 letters can weigh up to 3kg so applying them individually makes sense.

A big up from me for Smart Marine too from whom I bought some branded fender socks over the winter. These definitely smarten up the look of my boat and so far the material has stood up to the rigours of Med stern to mooring

Thanks Mike. They are velvet (not towelling), before anyone asks, so should wear well and not hold sand or grit.

Always a tiny bit nerve wracking placing orders friend's but thankfully they turned out really well.

Anyhow, hopefully this thread can fade away sparing me any further embarrassment and the wrath of the Mods!
