A success!!

1st pic shows it set up in working mode

2nd pic shows the tiller removed just leaving the clamp on the rudder stock

3rd pic shows the socket

4th shows the cockpit with T/P attached

have to say I used it loads this weekend and it's made such a difference, I've got stacks more room in the cockpit and not constantly tripping over the tiller.

Good job and a great idea which I might just well take on board, pardon the pun.
HB has a very small cockpit for a 30ftr and the tiller spans to within 16" of the companion way.
Is that a stanchion you have used?
I assume your boat does not suffer from excess weather helm like mine?
Better get working on it before you patent it:)
Thanks for sharing the pics.

Not a stanchion, but i can see why you thought so. It's an alluminium bar machined to look more aesthetically (sp) pleasing. Unfortunately it looks like a willy.

Hmm:eek:
I assume it only has to be as long as the distance from stock centre to pin on wooden tiller, ie aprox 460mm?

Colhel,

you deserve some sort of award for your design and craftsmanship, well done !

I can't help wondering why Raymarine and Simrad didn't cover this years ago, like most good inventions it seems obvious now...

Amazing - I can now see how it all works.

I still prefer the fuel filler cap :)

(For those that have mentioned it, the engineering and craftsmanship are every bit as good, in real life, as they look in the photo - though it does, indeed, look a bit like a willy, particularly when Colin whips it out from under his shirt :))

Colin's far too modest to say this but he would be happy to make machined or s/s parts if asked - I'm certainly pleased with the bits he made for me!
