Just thought I would give some feedback on some of the questions posted recently if anyone is interested, ie Midship Cleats, Sloppy Ball Valves

http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?387424-Mid-ship-Cleat-Backing-Pads

Have now successfully fitted my new mid ship deck cleats using Thickened Fibre Glass Resin for the Bulwark infill under the deck, and 16mm Marine ply bedded on Thickened Epoxy. Cleats bedded on Butyl Rubber compound glazing tape and bolts and penny washers as suggested here http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/rebedding_hardware

Gave up on the idea of using metal plate backing pad as I was not convinced the thickness would give added support to the bolts which would be in shear stress.
Have left them in bare wood at the moment and monitoring them for any water ingress?

Sloppy Ball Valves

http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?401174-Sloppy-ball-valve-to-skin-fitting-joint!

Have now re launched this week having taken original tapered ball valves back to supplier and purchased Parallel threaded ball Valves. Re-cut skin fittings to allow for valve to nearly seat, and any slackness taken up with PTFE tape for handle orientation. Also fitted back nut to both valves with Saba Sealtac on last few threads before making back-nut up tight. Good result with no movement in valves or leaks.

I would just like to thank all who gave advice and thought it only fit to post results,

Philip
