job list for whilst I'm back at work....
jet wash, and anti foul... its filthy...
strip charge coolers, and inspect/clean (certainly after the amount of soot they had swallowed after the exhausts blew off the turbos) quite a big job, and could be a bit of a bugger. Had a chat with the nice man at seahorse power, fingers crossed, he has all parts in stock. Prices for new dual stack sabre intercoolers that are still available is 2.5k. I really hope they are in ok condition.
replace all fuel lines whilst the aft cabin is in bits. (tanks in aft cabin)
replace exhaust hose through aft cabin. All seven meters of the stuff. Apparently the older stuff used to collapse and block the exhaust flow.
replace two fuel injection pipes on stbd motor that had been touching and worn a groove... replace before they split.
refit aft toilet floor and panels that were moving about.
new morse controls and cables.
fingers crossed for me all goes to plan.

had a chat with the very excellent scm turbos, and they said drop me the holeset part number for my turbos, and they could have a look if there is a modern equivalent that will fill the mid range in a bit. any more lag... I can time an egg for mine coming on boost :)

anybody have the holeset part number for sabre 17048 turbos ???

cheers
rob :D

many thanks DW. yours are smaller though and dont suffer the lag mine does.
cheers anyway :)

but I have emailed your contact at cat.
I had lost his details somewhere

many thanks :)

I feel vindicated, my exhaust hoses were delaminating. Don't feel like I have waisted 500 pounds replacing them now :)
And she has had a lick of anti foul...

shame you and the old girl are not ready for tomorrow......heading south with lionheart and island girl !!!

I been a busy little bee on all fronts.
Ive pulled the advert for the old girl, i shall have a few years out of her first.
We are still looking at starting cutting at the end of this month, start of next.
With the markets being as they are, and the fact its going to be a year, at least, i took her off the market.
We cut steel at the end of this month, and maybe some ali too :)

My old girl is going back together nicely now.
We have all new exhaust hose, which needed swapping out.
The aft cabin heads floor is been rebuilt. With the old and very smelly pipe junked in the skip.
So a usable heads hopefully, as before it used to block easily, and smelled.
New fuel pipes fitted, from both tanks, and returns.
I even measured the tanks to double check just how much fuel i can carry.

The intercoolers are filthy... Sooty, and utterly filthy. So a good call pulling them apart. Apparently they are in good condition, just stinking.
The new morse and throttle cables are installed and all ready to go i think. (Mine were worn out, and big difference in how they lined up and engaged gear...
Roll on next week :)

So do I. I have not planned anything yet.
Will play it by ear, and see what the weather does etc.
I'm due on surface midnight Tuesday/Wednesday, but the latest tragic loss of life in Shetland will affect me getting home.

well, the intercoolers were stinking. a bolted back up, i can hear the induction now, and throttle response is massively improved. these things had not seen light of day for thirty years nearly.
the turbos will need doing sooner or later, as there is oil residue in the intercooler housing, (or I have a valve leaking problem)
anyway. they sound sweeter and perform miles better. need to drop the tickovers as thats come up around 100rpm as well.

new morse controls are stiff, but will loosen off with use.
