'Tis still a galley if its on a boat; harrumph….:)

John,

I do believe that if I had the time and motivation I could find a post of yours which included a sentence along the lines of "we have fun on board referring to areas of the boat using domestic names"

Am I wrong?

Robert

Wow, Melleman, she looks awesome - very similar size/lines by the looks of her! Tell me more - where did you buy her from? Where did you sail her to? She looks like she was in a working condition, did you convert her?

Different shape altogether from your Scottish built one, That's Scandanavian, probably Danish built.

She was built in 1943 at Hälsö warf (that is on Orust, Sweden)
I bought it from the fisherman that were fishing with it and I sailed her around Sweden for almost 10 years.
The convertion I never finished though.
Last thing I heard was that a motorcycle club had her as a clubhouse/pub still in the Baltic.
When i bought it I asked the fisherman:

"Can she take any weather"?
The fisherman answered:
"She can take more weather than you can handle"

So as long as I had her I never bothered to check the weather. But I was young then.

Good luck with everything.

:)

The side of it facing Denmark, at least. And clearly a serious boatbuilding island - I've started two delivery trips from there, one each from the Najad and Hallberg-Rassy yards. Isn't Malo there too?

Pete

Yes, it is a busy Island.
But did not Najad go belly up?

Darn it! Guilty as charged (sometimes)

Except we know we are joking and when not in idle chat flippant mode I always revert to Galley/Heads etc etc. In fact we haven't played the, 'I'm going downstairs to go to the lavatory' joking nonsense for ages. Its will have to wait until next year now anyway.

I also protest that I would never refer to the parts of the boat in such flippant terms to a third party. Perish the thought sir!

Life's too short to worry about these things too much.

No luck with an anchor yet, dunmor. I don't know if you read about my anchor fail, somebody sold me a 55lbs anchor calling it 55kg. I have sourced a 50kg Halls type anchor, £288 inc. VAT & carriage, was hoping for something more around the £200 mark but maybe I'll have to bite the bullet on this one. Will then have to find a way of stowing it on the stem. And I need to sell the 55lbs Danforth to recover some costs!

Just did a bit of a catch up on this thread.. Sounds amazing!!

jellyellie, you have to post more photos, it seems I am not the only one waning to see more.. :)
