* with the 120m river pontoon, a swinging mooring at FYS is the next best thing to, and a lot cheaper than, a pontoon berth in a marina. Apart from the minor hassle of moving the boat from the buoy to the pontoon and back again and the non-issue for us of not being able to leave her plugged in to the mains all the time we get pretty well all the benefits for half the cost!

Marina : Wisbech Yacht Harbour (River Nene)
Annual cost : £90 ish a month for 8.25 metres
Electricity : Yes, card meter, reasonable rates.
Water : Yes, plenty of taps, with marina supplied potable water hoses
Access : Outer channel inaccessible an hour or two either side of LW
Loo and shower rating 100%, not very old, spotless.
Good grub within staggering distance? Various venues in town (stab vests optional)
Workshop facilities : No
"Friendly" percentage rating : 100%
Family/Kid Friendly rating : No Kids.
Swimming Pool : One in town
Tennis Courts Yes : Erm.... we go for the boating, but there is a sports centre in town
Pool Table : Think we saw one float past last month, just before the TV
Chandlery : No
Engine Service : No

Slightly different venue to most of the above. Modern pontoons and all the facilities are new, within the last 4/5 years. Hard standing included in price, lifts extra of course. Friendly staff, fellow berth holders too, although there only seems to be a handful of boats in use. Not really anything to do in the "marina" itself, other than park the boat. Toilets, showers and laundry are adjacent, but outside the gated yacht harbour. 15nm to clear the channel into the Wash makes it slightly less than ideal for 5 knots sail boats, but for us it's relatively cheap and on our doorstep.
