great surroundings, busy daytime- usually quiet at night, lovely walks all around, cheap ferry to beautiful beaches on Rock, good restaraunts, reasonable price( £12 for 10m) 2 immaculate toilet blocks, friendly harbour staff....
any other contenders??

My favourite harbour is any that offer a quiet sheltered night ideally with a friendly pub within toddling distance. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Of those I've moored in for several days at least....

UK - Penzance
France - Binic or Caen =
Spain - Bayonna
Portugal - Peniche

One of my favourite harbours is........

..... the Tobago Cays in the Grenadines, 100 miles west of us

This photo was taken from the Webshots collection, and shows Petit Tobac in the distance, with the World's End reef surrounding it. The water is this clear - its quite magical to be anchored here at night with a full moon and a steady tradewind blowing - you almost feel like you are suspended in the air (as the water is so clear).
Beyond the barrier reef is almost 2,000 miles of ocean before you reach Africa.

Although the Cays are getting a bit commercialised now - I have heard talk of it now being compulsory to pick up moorings rather than dropping your own hook.
