My cousins sailing from New York to Londonderry for charity.

I see from the Clipper website (http://www.archiveclipper1112roundtheworld.com/assets/Uploads/Clipper-Race-Fact-Pack.pdf) that the cheapest leg on the 13-14 race costs £9,358. Has your cousin paid that herself or is she planning to take it out of the amount she raises for charity?

If you had taken the time to do your research on the matter before posting a comment like that you would have found out that Samantha is part of team Switzerland and as such is sponsored by Swiss Sailing.

I see that Swiss Sailing have sponsored the boat, but I see nothing to suggest that they have also paid the fees of all the crew on her. I understand that there are 22 crew members on each boat for each of eight legs, costing around £10k, so the total crew fees for one boat are around £1.75m. A quick google search finds many other crew members of sponsored boats trying to raise money for leg fees.

So my question stands, although simplified to "Is your cousin proposing to take all or part of the leg fee of at least £9,358 from any money she raises?" Perhaps the OP could tell us.

Jumbleduck, it's for charity so please shut up unless you have anything meaningful to contribute, ie thank you etc...... just shut up until you do something newsworthy bite your teeth into this big man... "I'm proud of her" you tell me diffrent? I dare ya you pompous idiot.

(I had another word for you but it's not polite)

It is a valid question and one I always ask.

Is she playing for the leg or are her sponsors paying for her to do the leg and any surplus going to the charity?

Considering the number of con's that go on these days in the name of charity, I think it's a fair question.

Wow, bet she's glad to have you helping her with fundraising:confused:

listen m8, tell me exactually what your problem is? My cousin is doing the Atlantic and raising money for a hospice, I wish it was me but why do you have to stick your oar in? I'm not asking for money off you, are you jealous or something... In fact don't tell me, you are now added to my ignore list.

And there is nothing there to say that they are paying crew fees. Which, if they did, would be costing Swiss Sailing around £80 for every member of their federated clubs.

If your cousin has managed to find a free berth for the leg she's doing then I congratulate her and applaud her fund raising. However, I think it is reasonable to confirm whether sponsors are also being asked to pay legs fees.

A simple answer of yes or no would have clarified the situation instead you comments haven't promoted your quest at all .
