Hi all,

My brothers jetski was stolen this weekend from his garden in Bournemouth.. The model is a 2004 Seadoo GTX 185 (Red/Black), reg number is AE-1509.. If anyone sees one turn up where there wasn't one before or see's it listed on any sites for sale please let us know..

Commiserations to your brother. When my brand new 150hp Honda outboard was stolen I felt gutted. It ruined our summer, the bureaucracy took time and effort and we are still paying for it with increased premiums.
 
Sorry about your brother's loss but surely with the cost of tracking devices so low, it is imperative that these are fitted to easily stolen items such as PWCs and outboards.

Maybe an idea for an article in an upcoming magazine as I don't recall seeing one recently. As it is practical, it will also stop the letters page filling up with complaints about 80' boats being reviewed.

That's a little harsh imho, I keep on hearing and reading about these tracking devices but still haven't quite grasped how exactly they work effectively on something relatively small such as an outboard or jet-ski. I understand that it's relatively easy to hide such a device on a large boat and keep it connected to power, but on something small?

Maybe a magazine article, or, even better, something posted on here, could explain in simple language how these things work.
