My take on the dry stack system,

Over sized yank trailor modified to fit fat sunseeker £1K,

Second hand Shogon diesel auto 200 squid,

A year ashore storage and slip as many times as you like. £800.

surrounded by like minded boat owners,............. priceless:D

That makes perfect sense to me , being the tightwad that i am ;) ,Do you struggle getting her back on the trailer , or is she lifted on , i cant see a winch on the trailer , or a towhitch :D

the photo is a month old , it now has a winch post, docking arms, and bow bunks, the tow is by ring not ball, and because of where I launch and recover the slip is very gentle and has a pontoon along side the slip the process is far more simpler than I had imagined, very pleased I did, I was tied in to a boat club and we lifted out at the end of the season and stayed out until spring, because of the cost of the crane was shared doing it on your own became an expensive pastime.the up side to this is insurance companies like it, along with all the benefits the dry stacking people preach anoids, anti-foul, saltwater environment etc, and I also have one of the better parking slots, the slip is to the the left of the hardy in the photo so I hitch up, pull forward a few boat lengths and reverse down the slip.

Ahhh....now we are talking Mr. E. :)

This is a widely accepted option in this country, and a personal favourite of mine. Well done indeed.

It's not widely accepted here because we have stupid narrow roads and regressive laws that stop you towing big boats/loads, our laws state we cannot tow anything wider than 2.55 meters and this was only just increased last month from 2.3 mtrs. so as far as my fat portofino is concerned I can't tow it on public roads because she is 3.2 mtrs wide and under our laws, on width restrictions alone, I need to give 48 hrs notice to the traffic police and the load would have to be escorted, never mind all the other **** associated to moving it, too long, too heavy, wrong type of braking system, tow vehicle too small, etc.

years ago a range rover under english law was allowed to tow something in the region of 5+ tons but under european law that limit is now 3500kgs gross train weight, plus new drivers have to take another test to be able to tow a trailer whereas old farts like me have a car licence that allows me to drive a small truck 7500kg + trailer of 5000kgs Total of 12500kgs allup weight.

But for now I'm pleased with my current situation.:D

What I really meant E was the storage arrangement of the large boats on slipping trailers, with a nearby launching ramp as you and your mates are doing.

As with your 2.5 metre max. width road towing law, so is ours, but we can then with one phone call and no cost, get a 12 month permit to tow up to 12 feet wide (escort after 12 feet), as long as the tow vehicle is suitable and the trailer is legal etc.

To be fair, we haven't got the (generally) huge road vehicle traffic and 500 year old land titles restricting the width of the roads as well as complying with international neighbours standards.

Hope all goes well with the new arrangement. The boat does look sweet on that trailer :-)
