MV Nahlin...Dyson's efficiency paying off

The propulsion comes from four 2200 HP / 1619 Kilowatts Curtis-Brown. - Overall output: 8800 HP /6475 KW. - Cruising at a speed of 15 nautical miles per hour. - Her top Speed is around 18 knots.

I have my doubts about the 8800 HP output. That comes from a webpage that has been badly translated from some other language. Note the very odd English throughout. http://www.charterworld.com/index.html?sub=yacht-charter&charter=nahlin-1925

As a twin screw vessel I think that there are probably two main engines of 2200 HP plus two smaller ones driving generators.

I wouldn't say ostentatious (or perhaps I would be ostentatious too, if I had the wherewithal) but I can't see the fun in buying a boat that I can't sail myself.

The point of boats like that is that she's a private cruise ship, that goes where you want her to, when you want her to. And the staff know how to mix your G&T just the way you like it.

Upside of this one is that she actually looks good, rather than the unwelcome offspring of a trainer mating with the output of a fibreglass factory.

On looking at the various photographs available through the AIS website, the details of where and when taken show that at least she gets about a bit, and doesn't sit mouldering in a boat park. A proper cruising yacht.

Now here in Tobermory harbour. Nice looking boat, dwarfing a couple of old gaffers that are also visiting here.

wikipedia says 2 x 200hp are diesels replacing the steam engines.
You sure about that?

You're quoting a comment from just over a year ago.

That is what wikipedia said at the time: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nahlin_(yacht)&oldid=572037398

The article was modified a month after chewi wrote, by John Sinclair (perhaps of this parish?), with the figure of 2200hp: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nahlin_(yacht)&diff=604962016&oldid=572037398

Any chance of a photo of Nahlin in Tobermory?
She's gone- sorry!
ETA: Actually, she just moved a bit so I couldn't see her from my window. I will see if I can get a shot, but she's in a bit of an awkward place.
