Musto jacket repairer

Dear All,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a person or company who could patch/repair a 3cm sharp tear in the back of my jacket (it caught on a plit pin that had escaped the metres of insulation tape..) I am worried about the tear extending.

It is in the cream part of the fabric.. one difficulty may be that the mesh lining seems sewn in so putting a patch on the back may be difficult.. though I am not a seamstress (or the male equivalent!)

I will send it back to musto if no success but I thought the forumites may know of a cheaper way..... I would be happy mailing it or if not Surrey/Hampshire (Camberley, Winchester, Gosport etc area..)

In my experience, when I had to have my Gill jacket repaired I sent it back to Gill who did an excellent repair at a reasonable cost. Thread and material matched exactly.

I've always found Musto very good actually - often free if its something like a zip or something and quite reasonable for tears etc

Second that, they relined a coat for me FOC and replaced zip.

Musto just did a nice job on my 20 year old Ocean jacket and trousers. Contact their service dept and they'll only be too pleased to help

A cheap and effective way to patch waterproof jackets is to put a patch of spinnaker tape over the rip (round off the corners to stop them lifting). Then coat the patch with 'seamseal' (or similar). A patch done like this will easily last as long as the jacket.
