I have owned a Musto HPX Ocean suit for 5 years+ and last weekend when out in my inflatable for 20-30mins I found my normal trousers and shirt were wet.
I phoned Musto on Monday to show my concern and the lady asked if I could send the suit back to be examined.
By Friday I had a brand new suit delivered. :)

They have sharpened up their act these daze :)

Exactly the opposite reaction that I had from them - I sent an Ocean jacket into them, complaining that the waterproofing layer had delaminated from the cloth. They said it was normal wear and tear and offered no replacement.

Do a "Musto Lifetime Promise" search.
in the end i got Nigel Musto involved & he kindly sorted it out.

So share how you managed to get this response so swiftly, I requested information from Musto some weeks ago about replacing the velcro on my HPX jacket and am still waiting for a response ! Ta

It was as simple as my first post suggests. I was polite and did add a letter with my parcel telling of my experience etc
Also I was disappointed even though the cuffs and some areas inside etc were showing a little sign of wear that at 65yrs I had envisaged the suit would see me to the end of my cruising days.

My experience with a 3-year old HPX outfit that let water through both jacket and trousers was quite different. I was told to wash it in a reproofing agent which I had already done with no improvement. So I switched to a Helly Hansen suit which is proving excellent.

so you have spent £1k on Musto that "wasnt fit for purpose" & didnt pursue it

You're lucky they had one to send you. For the past few days I've been trying to source 8 sets of a 7 item clothing list. I've just been told that of the 7 items one is discontinued, five are out of stock and one - a cap - is in stock! Amazing.

These items were the uniforms for the eight crew members of a Ukranian racing team that adopted me as an honorary crew member after we got a Loos rod rigging tension gauge to them in short order - and they won the next race!

had good service recently, sent two old sets of trousers back, both leaking at the seat.
found out one was over 7 years old the other one 4, so as a goodwill gesture they send me a new set.
then the neighbours ? lost the trousers, or the delivery man messed up, any way, musto sent a second pair no probs.

You have to wonder that someone would spend 1k, or even half of that, on a suit in the first place. Its like the silly £200 in fashion leather wellies. No way will they outlast 5 sets of £38 rubber ones.

You're handing over 50% or more of what you pay for the brand name / label.

I completely agree. I bought my set in a "final reductions" sale in the Musto outlet store at Bicester for (I think) £240 total. Until they started to leak I thought I had a bargain!

I don't think it's about outlasting - it's about the comfort level.

Cheap foulies and rubber wellies are fine for many, as the average family cruiser doesn't do things like sit on the rail being dunked for hours. Those that do often start in cheap gear, but when they peel off after the race and notice that the crew members with the "designer" smocks and "£200 fashion wellies" are dryer and shivering less, they start aquiring that sort of kit.

My gear is now 5 years old, and worth every one of the very many pennies I paid for it.

But the big names and the no-names are made in the same factory in China on the same equipment and using the same materials.
The difference in functionality is between rain suits, 'coastal' wear and 'offshore' wear, not between no-name and big-name. Within a category your paying for the name not any discernable difference in functionality.
