If the strips are going to be varnished before fitting a screw a separate washer of some kind would be needed to prevent damage to the varnish with the head of the screw when tightening.

I think they are the closest I'm going to find. However, they are too long but these the steer led to are not

You will be surprised how strong the bond is using heavy duty Velcro. When I take down a panel I have to peel it off as it is impossible to pull it off directly.

Our boat was built with mushroom headed Philips drive screws. Thousands of 'em. Hard to find in the UK. I have never found a UK supplier. Try the States or

on eBay, check a shop called Aruncas. Great for SS fixings including what I think you seek.

The ones I have are on the right. The ones to the left are from Aruncas but obviously quite different. Perhaps it is possible to tap gap!

Westfield Fasteners are a good source. Bapp Fasteners have most and will will get almost anything in for you if you phone or email them.

Or, if your wood is very good, just tap into it.
