Multi Trip Insurance

Interested in whether you find you are covered as our Insurance is up for renewal in March.

We need an annual policy to cover skiing up to 15 days a year and sailing both racing a dinghy (in case of injury if we compete abroad) and big boat cruising plus the normal type of package holiday and weekend breaks. Any recommendations of one thats better or cheaper than the RYA policy from Bishop Skinner.

Try the Skiclub of Great Britain travel insurance, seems to cover everything. The people who run the club have negociated sensible terms to cover things like this. Alternativly you could get an AMEX Platnium or Centurian card, both of these give world wide travel insurance included with the annual fee.

A number of policies cover you for holidays that you can book through a travel agent but not if say you sail to France in your own yacht.

For these standard policies its part of the long list of requirements before they will meet any claims is to produce the receipt for the holiday/flight/ferry etc.

Snowcard Update - Multi Trip Insurance

[ QUOTE ]
Just checking in to say I am watching all this with great interest and looking forward to the snowcard update.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sports Level 2 includes offshore sailing.

Section 1 - Medical & repatriation &other expenses
Policy wording:

f) Rescue

Search and Rescue expenses, (including by helicopter), decompression treatment, necessarily incurred... etc. etc. ...... where the appropriate rescue authorities recommend the dispatch of a search and rescue team.

Hard to see how they can get out of that....

Cheers

Re: Snowcard Update - Multi Trip Insurance

Thanks everyone for all that most helpful information. I will have a look at all the recommended companies. Snowcard looks to be the business, but I will check out the premiums quoted by the best four companies before making a final decision. Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure that most quotes can be done online.

However, when I first used them, i was doing a 2 or 3 month trip, (UK to Madeira and back), and the standard policy has a 31 day max per trip. Called them up and got an extension to 71 days for an extra premium.... cant remember what the extra was.

Cheers
