At risk of someone snapping this up in the meantime (I note there are a few available), does anyone know anything about Mulock anchors? As you might have read from my other posts, I am looking for an anchor around 50kg, which is surprisingly difficult to find.

I have just found this one on eBay but know nothing about the type:

Looks a bit like a Danforth, but without any form of stock. Hmmm.
I don't know if you intend anchoring regularly, or whether this is just so that you have an anchor for your delivery trip.
If you do intend anchoring, do think about how you're going to get the brute up again. With a slightly bigger boat than yours, I had two 140lb Danforths, but they were only used very occasionally. The anchor that was in daily use was a 140lb plough (CQR type). It's great advantage was that the hydraulic windlass pulled it right up onto the bow roller, and it never had to be handled. Using the Danforth required a davit, fitted with a hand winch to swing it aboard, and was a quite a guddle.

Storyline, yes I saw that. If anybody is near Kew and fancies a trip to the archives, that would be amazing! It also makes me think the test wasn't very positive, otherwise there would probably be more information about them online, whereas it seems they may have abandoned the idea... but I shouldn't really speculate too much.

Yes, definitely a (one of many) Danforth variant.

Hi Norman

For now, my plans don't include regular anchoring... Elizmor has a manual windlass, and no bow roller or lead system for an anchor. No chain either. So I'm hoping to have a bow roller made up that would hold an anchor on her stem, or just keep the anchor on the deck and somehow manoeuvre it over the bow if it needed to be used. But yeah, got to get the thing back up again...!

I have one of those in aluminium. Great anchor. i use it as a kedge. mine weighs about 10kg and it obviuosly smaller. When i bought it some years ago i was told it came off a landing craft. it was painted green.
