Got the son, DIL and grandchildren coming for their hols.

Never been to Muiderzand marina - I see it's got some 'swimming beaches' next door.

What is it like as a marina - facilities on site - food etc? Cost?

What are the little beaches like - OK for kids?

Much to do otherwise?

Boat is 13m+ (davits etc).

TIA

Thanks both.

I've been on their website. I'm really looking for personal opinions of people who've been there.

It does seem to be rather isolated but I wondered if the beaches were any good for the grandkids. I know the beaches near Medemblik can be affected by algae bloom.

I get to use Medemblik Regatta marina for free and there's a swimming complex nearby as well as the 'beaches'. MM would be an expensive (& boring for the kids) stopover if the beaches aren't worth the visit - there doesn't seem to be much else there.

BTW - one of the few things I dislike about Holland is the way people let their dogs shit all over the place. It was hard to find a dog poo free piece of grass or sand at the beaches at Medemblik last year.

We were there a couple of weeks ago. Its not expensive, facilities are good, the beaches are good for kids. There's nothing much else around as its a bit in the middle of nowhere. We met a man with a wolf there who was in the Campervan area, the wolf was very friendly, apparently it had been bred at Rotterdam zoo. I'd stick to the lanes when approaching unless you are keen on acquiring a lot of weed.

We've spent quite a lot of time there, 5 days waiting for a new water pump from the UK. I would say:

Its modern, excellent 'facilities', good onsite restaurant, free bike hire (including some electric bikes), about a kilometer from the station, half hour service into Amsterdam, or Almere the other way. reasonably priced, and the usual friendly Dutch Staff.

We enjoyed our stay there and would thoroughly recommend it despite it having taken 7 attempts to get into the box berth ( it was our first experience)..... the office sent a yard hand to come and help as well:):)
