Sorry for the basic question guys. Is there a special set of muffs tailored to the Volvo 290 drives? I'll be flushing them tomorrow before heading back for home and noticed the intakes from picture are nearer the front of the drive when compared to the mercruiser so am wondering if a standard set of muffs will do the job. thanks

Gary - Sounds like you need a specialist muff diver imho

I have some salt away on the boat if you are interested in using this and will be around later today - call me on the mobile - cheers

I used my old Outboard muffs on my 290 leg, worked fine for me, just don't rev too high. MDL no longer allow you to run your engine(s) on the hard, they say the vibrations can dislodge the supports to the hull etc, but I never experienced any problems, just something too watch out for.

Hi G..... i know its a pain, BUT, the best way is a "loft water" tank £15 from wickes (about 5yrs ago)..... the muff methord is ok but you MUST watch em !!!!!!!!. they tend to vibrate off ONLY when your NOT WATCHING !!!!!................ Must say that if vibrations "dislodge hull supports" that says a lot for the "chocking" !!!!!! just aswell that meteorite went off over Russia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ended up buying a set of Mercury Marine muffs with the securing pin that goes through the intake vents on the drive to keep them in place. worked a treat
