Today MF was viciously attacked by a raggie, whilst defencless on her mooring.

The raggie backed at full speed down the avenue and whilst his SWSBO screemed, rammed MF up the davits.

At least he returned with his details.

He must've hit you pretty positively judging by the way that davit has bent.

I'd gone to the shop at the time. But Deborah was on the boat and saw it.

I saw him mooring, it took a cast of thousands.

Apparently he was going at quite a lick when he hit. He said he was looking the other way.

It looks like I'm going to need a pair of davits as the model seems to have changed. That should cost him a bob or two

Oh eck!

Hope he isn't a new berth holder on your pontoon!

Based on the visual evidence, I'd say the dinghy is a gonner too. I mean it must have taken a big amount of the impact force. If you claim on the insurance, I'll make you a generous offer for it as scrap value :)

(PS. Henry OK, or did he join in the fun and games ?)

Next time you need a new outdrive leg you can have a word with him can't you. Every cloud etc;)

Tim

Fortunately I don't have out drives, or is that unfortunate.

Strangely though, I have a rev counter that has gone. berserk and a fish finder that is acting up. Also the new Ariel wire that I was fitting, is suddenly three feet to short. I recon it must have been the shock of the impact.

Sounds like a Bank Holiday sailor. Why would any one go backwards quickly in such a congested area? Were you in a marina or out by Pickle?

The currents on the river can be wicked, but useful if you use them sensibly ie slow ahead on engine allows you to go slowly backwards.

He's going to get a helluva shock when he sees the bill for that lot - but at least Conway insist on insurance for berth holders - may be a problem if he's a visitor tho.

I have a mate in Caernarfon that calls the dinghy on its davits his "big fender". I may show him those pics.:D

In the marina. It was quite windy, but we were up wind.

To be fair to the bloke, he immediately offered to pay. Mind I don't think he had much option, dozens of folk saw it happen and another raggie offered to be a witness.

It's a bit of a bummer cos if we go out, folk will all say, look at that daft tw@t wot backed into summat.

he was going backwards at quite a speed, saw it happen, his swimbo screamed out, the whole marina was looking, then bash. Nothing I could do, it's actually is worse than it looks in the pictures. Before we go out tom. hlb is giving me a crash course in driving so he doesn't look like the tw@t that did it.

Never mind about the boat Haydn, how are Deborah and Henry, and what about your back? Your not suffering from 'whiplash' are you?
On the subject of davits, whilst they are not stainless steel I have a good pair of about the right size that I had taken off Sultan, let me know if you want to have a look.
Apart from all this aggrevation how has your weekend been? Hope you have mamaged to get out, the weather here was horrible yesterday but quite pleasant today.
Any way take care and give me a bell sometime.

Yep, I got whip lash whilst sat at the pub when Deb rang and told of the catastrophe. Henry is in trauma and wont do a thing he's told. He's also eating far to much.

Weekend??? We've been on a world cruise, been round Anglesey one and a half times so far trying to find the way out.

MF will accept nothing less than stainless Whittall davits. Electric or a crane would be nice, but where the hell would I put it.

Would you tell Kwackers that we've done the ariel job, except it's a bit short, but we'll look for a joining thingy tomorrow. Also we are sinking slowly, cos of the starboard stern gland, cant reach cos of the back. Were also not spending much time on the boat, or laying at anchor. Cos we owe him 80 quid.

Yer didn't owe the Raggie owt did yer:D???

That looks nasty, hope you can get repaired soon.

The gel will have flexed around the davit fixing, if you just put a new davit on, in 6 months time it will craze, perhaps you could have a stainless plate made like a huge square washer cap to hide the crazed gel ?

You mention having to buy a pair, thats a good idea anyway as I would have thought the other also one took stress (unless you had the dinghy loose to drain rainwater).

The worst bit is going to be clearing the lazerette out

Haydn
Sorry to see the damage to your boat, glad to hear no one was injured in the attack. Did you mention the vintage bottle of champagne that got broken in the assault?

Yep the dinghy was loose, else it would have ripped the new Avon to bit's.

I'm also worried about stress cracks, but having said that, the davits are well anchored down. To be honest, I bet it would not need that much force to twist them, they were never ment for a side ways force.

The reason I think I will need a pair, is looking on Whittles web site. The part numbers are different than mine, so I guess they have been modernised over the years.
