Much louder than normal Jabsco 'quiet flush'

Hi,

The heads is making one hell of a racket, the impeller was found to be missing a blade and so I wonder 'is that the reason for the loud noise through the system when it runs.

Anyone else had similar issues of a very loud noise from the Jabsco macerator quiet flush pump? I wonder if the motor had failed but when I take it out and run it works fine perhaps the toilet is amplifying the problem.

I always found the 'quiet flush' name tag to be laughable personally. I've never seen one that didn't create a racket.

A macerator missing a blade certainly won't help matters though.

...could the bearings in the motor be on there way out?

I doubt the bearings would be ailing: the impeller is definitely the cause. I have had a commercial connection with Jabsco, but never seen a "toofless" impeller! Have your users been getting enough roughage?
Take care when you remove the housing, because they are prone to cracking (voice of experience), and replace the seals whilst you're at it.

I'll be honest, the last time I had to deal with an electric jabsco my advice to the captain was to replace it with a manual one.

It saves a world of problems with the advantage that it's almost cheaper to replace it than clean it.

I bought and fitted a loud flush conversion at SWMBOs insistence. When it leaked all over the bathroom floor in the middle of The Med., I wrapped it securely in a number of plastic bags, refitted the original manual pump, and later replaced that with the latest lockable pump..... Never again!

I disagree: it's awesome not only is there no pumping but items very quick too. No 25 pumps in / 25 pumps out thank you

For £473 and it to last without fault for 6 years then good value.

Well if your trying to convince me that pumping is the answer i would sooner go to B&Q, buy a toilet and retro fit it to the the 'back end' and **** off the stern!!! We have strict rules and I service the pumps for seals once every 4-5 years and for those 'evil' land lovers who think a toilet on a boat is like one at the Hilton who attempt to block it well its a formula 1 change over if it ever happens.
