Cracking advertorial in October's MBY:

Maybach Motorenbau, as the company was known,...contribution to the German war effort and built thousands of engines ...including the 23 litre V12 that propelled the Panther and Tiger tanks

Sheesh, I thought the Germans didn't mention the war, never mind use it in their propaganda, sorry advertisements.

I did their engine course in the Friedrichshafen factory - a week long - we were given a few hours off on the thursday to look round the Zeplin museum - when we got there the airships on display had MTU engines fitted - just couldnt get away from them!

IMHO currently i dont think there are any better engines in the class MTU are making.
the war ended a while ago last time i checked.
