The big grey static liveaboard? That's the ex-customs cutter 'Vigilance' - now with an added superstructure of corrugated plastic sheeting that ruins her fine lines somewhat but I s'pose it keeps them dry.
Think I would be considering a trip along some of the rivers and dropping some leaflets on likely contenders. There are three in the vicinity of Hayling Yacht services, but thats a bit far from Essex!
One of the three is about 100ft from my boat.
Seems abandoned but i am advised the owner has refused to sell quite recently.
Diag is a bitch to repair.... Cos you often have to take 12ft of boat apart to fix 1 sqft of rot
(If you find one and have problems... I will say "I told you so")
The minesweeper i posted on the link above is now up for offers with an offer to help move her . Would make a great livaboard if you could find somewhere to put her .
must go great live abourd make great house boat with lots of room needs a lot of work must be taken away of mooring soon as pos 112ft long 6ft draft 22ft beam displacements120 ton great little ship4
Thanks , but there's too much of it , nowhere to put it , and a move now clause .
Nice one for somebody though , just not me , thanks
What a fantastic yacht it would make. £50,000 would see her nicely converted to a basic yacht standard. Bit more impressive your than average Sunseeker!
The very beautiful 102, she is on Keith Newsons slipway
up near the Rail bridge, on the North side of the river
in Lowestoft. Bit of history there Trev!!
Cheers Tony
Not quite MTB but quite nice , or would be without the , whatever it is on deck . 102 was seen on Saturday , but as the insurance companies rule the world , I had to make do with a long conversation with some crew , and an invitation to join the team . This I may well do
Could I revive this old thread and ask whether anyone knows of any MTB's, or similar, with the same sort of criteria, ie v.cheap/free, pretty poor condition, but without geographical restraints, south coats would be great, so more details of the hayling island ones would be nice to hear?
The results of forum members here , were passed to them because the one found wasn't big enough for wife . Log in there and it won't take long to find me , the post is getting to be the biggest they've had for a while
