I,m doing a presentation on a summer sailing trip at our local Yacht club and only get postcard size pictures when I Copy and Paste from my Pictures. The resolution is also well down which is annoying since the pics are 4mp and they will be projected onto large screen. Any advice much appreciated and thanks in anticipation - Jackho

You need to import the photo rather than copy/paste. Go to the drop down "insert" option and select "insert picture from file". Open the file of interest from your pictures folder and click OK.

Try using 'paste special' picture (in the Edit toolbar).

Sometimes the picture is too large for Powerpoint - open it in your picture editor, resize it then 'select all' and copy.

As CellBuoy says you should use the "insert/picture/from file"command.

If you put loads of pictures into powerpoint, you can compress them in powerpoint using "view/toolbars/picture" then press the "compress picture" button. This tool is very useful where you put loads of large pictures in and the file ends up enormous. It also works in "Word".

I find that reducing the images first to 800 x 600 makes them fit the PowerPoint slide nicely. And also use the "Insert" dropdown tool and select "Picture" then "From File". I have examples from some of my presentations posted at:

PowerPoint Slides

I also use a sharpening filter after reducing the images to 800 x 600.
