When I were a youf, I recall messing about with a voltage doubler. I don't remember any inductors in that. But it was a long time ago!

On another forum, somebody summed up the problems of buying cheap circuits from China,
it's hard to tell the counterfeit from the copies, imitations and fakes.
Worst case you end up with a counterfeit copy of an imitation fake.....
