Interesting website. I've not seen that before. Looks like Marina Port Majorca and RCN have 14/15m moorings for rent. Are these private ads or placed by the marinas themselves?
If you click on an ad it should show you who to contact and how. The site covers all Spanish ports and most seem to be private, but presumably agents are not barred.

Thats a great website thanks for that!
One the of the major reasons putting me off the road transport is removing the radar arch etc, but if there are companies that can avoid this then great.
And as suggested a good idea could be taking her to Cherbourg and getting her picked up from there. Then meeting her at the destination.
I am also thinking a good idea might be keep her in Barcelona area for a while until a berth pops up. Someone i know suggested that Sant Carles is a good place to go, its run by MDL the same people who run loads in the UK
Mooring prices are considerably cheaper than anywhere in the Baleares and Andraitx and San Antonio are within 100 miles.
Being brand new there are still plenty of berths available too and when it is finished it should be one of the best. We bought a 28 year lease for a fraction of the 7 year rates in Majorca.
No problem getting a berth in Barcelona or any marina nearby. We've just spent a few days in Port Vell right in the centre of Barcelona and there was no problem reserving space. The only problem with Barcelona is that the coastline either side is featureless and flat and you have to go 40nm north before you get to the calas of the Costa Brava coast
I would take a look at Sant Carles before you commit to go there. Its 100miles from Barcelona and a bit in the middle of nowhere. It may be 90nm from the Balearics but you ain't going to be doing that every weekend with fuel at €1.30/litre. It should eventually build up a nice club atmosphere but that may be a few years away. Btw the photo of the Sunseeker on THIS page of the website is nowhere near Sant Carles. That's Tossa de Mar about 200nm north of Sant Carles. MDL should be reported to the ASA for that
Well thanks everyone for your input!
its been a great source of information.
I think the plan is to get her shipped over with either PSP or Peters & may depending on what their final price is.
We will be getting her moved to Sant Calres, its a starting point and at least the weather will be nice!
We should be moving her early september, so ill post some photos when shes done!
Hi Just seen your question. We had a boat shipped from Swanwick to Gibralter and then took it up to Majorca. The cost to ship a Princess 61 was £13,000. It then took us four days up to Alcudia. The berthing charges in Majorca are on the rise again. Last year we paid £18,000 including VAT and are awaiting another hit.
I just noticed that a 15 Mtr berth has been added to the offers for rent at Sant Carles on the buscoamarre site. 4000€ for a years mooring, has to be a bargain!

One last thing,
Is anyone using C-Map cartridges in their plotters
if so how do i go about updateing them for use over in the mallorca/barcelona area
[/ QUOTE ]
I use C-Map and bought the Western Med wide cartridge. If you already have one and are only interested in updating it to get the latest information, I wouldn't bother. Just buy the Spanish version of Bloc Marine (It's in English and Spanish) from any chandlers or marina office for €20 and that will give the latest marina info. The coastline unlike the UK doesn't change much.
I managed to get a Cmap cartridge from the US via a passing aquaintence....much cheaper...try googling Westmarine

However I was surprised to find the Barcelona harbour wall much further from the coast than my Navionics knew about, well over a mile further out than I expected. I really must update it.
We are off to Sant Carles from Torquay - hopefully this weekend.
On our own bum.
Will probably post our progress on this forum but when/if we get there I'll post some photos.
AFAIK Sant Carles is a bit bleak at the moment - they still havent finished its construction but as Deleted User says I'm sure it will develop into a really great place. We know the area quite well - had a villa nearby a few years ago. SWMBO and I went to see the site almost 2 years ago - huge potential - there's a natural lagoon about 6 or 7 miles long by a mile or so wide just outside the marina - forms a nature sancturay etc. The marina is going to have the usual clubs etc plus a swimming pool and I think there was talk of other sports facilities.
I havent yet sorted anything with the marina, just incase its not what it claims.
but hopefully everything will be fine and we get a 4/28 year lease
As you might have figured my boat is a Azimut 46 named Fuzion
V14 will be handy for the pool, but I doubt whether it will be there for this autumn as it had not been started when we left 2 weeks ago. We should be driving down there on 21st for a month, so will say hello if we see you.
The 4 year deal seems more expensive, but includes airport transfers, which were not for us. I did originally book the four year option, but changed to long lease after I arrived there in May.
You can discuss that with them after you arrive and make an informed choice. The alternative would be a one year mooring at an attractive rate compared with other ports.
I've been in contact with Neil (the manager) and he assures me that V14's ready for us - and I understand that he is a reliable guy having run both Torquay and Brixham marinas.
Also pictures were posted on this forum recently showing this
Oh sorry - I've just reread your post - you mean the pool.
Personally, I didnt expect the MARINA to be ready this autumn let alone the pool.
The spanish have a very "laid back" approach to building "Mañana" I believe - however the marina has actually come along MUCH faster than I had expected.
