Moving to Italy - marina lease prices on West and East coast.

Having searched the forums, I can’t find any posts on ‘permanent’/ annual fees for yachts in Italy (west or east coast).
The plan: buying a house in Italy to do up and run a business as well as buying a 2nd hand cruiser to live in and sail the med for a few weeks/ months a year.

What I’m looking for is a few suggestions of low cost (ha ha)…. lower cost marinas and locations on the West or East coasts of Italy, for a 10-12m yacht for an annual berthing fee (ideally with lift out charges too).

Within half an hour of a ‘relatively’ affordable marina and an hour or two of Rome, Naples or Bari airports. Probably in the South (Basilicata is a strong contender).

I almost moved from Valencia to Genoa a few years ago. The marina at the airport is reasonably priced for my 8.5m boat. Covid got in the way and I've stayed put for now.

this was actually last year when I checked again :

Berth dimensions 8,5 m x 3,20 m

Annual berth rental: € 3.500,00 + vat



We charge separately for electricity and water and depending on the berth available we charge:

• Counter reading: € 0,36 + vat (22%) per kwh and € 0,004 + vat (22%) per liter of water

OR

• Flat rate: € 20,00 vat included per month (that is € 240,00 vat included per 1 year).

Just an orientation. but the marina has a few drawbacks like having rather shallow and tidal approaches.

Best is to enquire directly and then negotiate.

11.5m was €3.8k for 12 months in Licata (Sicily) '22-'23.

where about in Italy? we use to keep our boat in Veruda, Pula Stria for about £4.5K a year

Best to phone. They might find an English speaker if put on the spot. If their English is dicky they often do not respond. It is unlikely to be cheap. I gave up around Naples for cost reasons.

Sorry, I offered to share information then got busy. My story is this: 2 boys went off to college this year and my daughter is being recruited to a European Ballet School. My wife and I are considering retiring early, buying a coastal Airbnbfor a little income, and having a Sailboat to spend the time our Airbnb is rented as well as longer trips to into the Med. It will be very modest living until I am actually retirement age.

I’m currently waiting on a reply from Maratea and Sapri marinas, a couple of hours drive south of Naples.

Can't tell for sure, but I'd expect both to give you a reasonable quotation, for a yearly berth.
OTOH, neither those places - or any others in S Italy, for that matter - should be chosen based on costs, imho.

I mean, it's very rare to find someone who hate S Italy, BUT:
Some people like and understand the lifestyle enough to not wish to live anywhere else anymore.
Some others just appreciate it from a touristic viewpoint, but would not even consider staying there for more than a week or two.
If you are among the former, you'd have a permanent berth there rather than in St.Tropez in a heartbeat, even if it would be more expensive.
If you are among the latter, you wouldn't want to have a permanent berth there if they gave it to you FoC, period.
