This is a video of my 48ft boat being moved by road from Marine & General Boatyard's shipyard site about 500 yards to its boat storage yard on the 32 tonne Capacity Roodberg hydraulic boat trailer and pulled by a John Deere tractor. The trailer has disc brakes and is approved for road use in Guernsey. For the first time I decided to keep my boat out of the water for the winter and that is probably why the weather has been so good recently? This has been shown on Marine & General Boatyards Facebook page.

Nice video and you have a very lovely boat Bandit. Thanks for posting.

I would just add, in my personal opinion that looks quite an exposed spot you have been put in if the wind is coming straight up your chuff.

Firefly: The chuff is facing East but we do get the occasional gale from that direction but most gales are West or Southwesterly but in truth anywhere is Guernsey on the coast is fairly exposed.

Rafiki: Yest the tractor driver handles it neatly but also assisted by the fact that the drawbar on the trailer is pivoted and you get about 15 degrees movement each way to swing the drawbar over using hydraulic rams to start a turn.

Lovely boat, interesting video. Spent quite a bit of time around there, always try to get to St Sampsons on the bus as well as taking the boat to Abrahams Bossom to refuel.

Very nice sir! I noticed the boat in the yard as i drove by the other day. Stands out like a sore thumb compared to the array of 'project' boats languishing there! Nice to see my own boat on its mooring in the first few seconds of the clip. :)

nice boat ,but why bother storing now when easter is not far away

My Berth in St Sampsons Marina is very exposed and I don't sleep very well at home in a gale worrying about it.

Every year I say, we will use it over Xmas or in the nice days but work, tides, marina gate times and social engagements as well as good weather rarely all line up to enable me to use the boat.

She has been out of the water since mid November she is fully serviced, all new skin fittings and checked over all that needs to be done is antifoul, new anodes and clean the topsides and relaunch late March.

It was quite nice to pack the boat up for the winter for the first time since I got her in 2007. Along with her predecessors I have kept my boat in the water over the winter since I did a major refit in 2001. Only coming out for a matter of weeks for servicing and antifoul.

The life raft has reached the end of its 3 yearly cycles of servicing at 12 years old and would now be in to its annual servicing so I consider it more economical to buy a new raft.

Lifejackets are being inspected and serviced with a couple being replaced as the old ones were faulty.

The epirb battery needs replacement but my model is discontinued so I have had to buy a new one but the new one has an AIS transmitter sending out your lat & long , I am pleased about that.

All alcohol has been moved ashore for review including some wine I put on board in 2007 that wasn't particularly good then, so I doubt it has improved.

All I need to do now is go through the rest of gear on board and check it and see if it needs to be on board ( boats get heavier with accumulated crap).

So looking forward to commissioning at the end of March.
