Well, fellow forumites, I've finally found out that I can move my little pride & joy out of her current home in Liverpool & berth her in Conwy Marina. Great news, but I now have a logistical problem. I don't own a trailer & my car would be too small to tow my boat anyway. When, not too long ago, I was considering moving to Preston Marina I checked out a couple of boat transport companies. One failed to reply & one quoted funny (as in, 'don't waste our time again') money. Do any of you know of a boat transport company that specialises in comparatively short transfers (about 90 miles according to Google) for boats at the smaller size scale? Failing that, are there any North West England based forumites with their own trailer who could do the transfer for / with me some time in early June, for suitable recompence? I'm aware that there are probably all sorts of insurance issues with this last point but any guidance from the experienced and knowlegable amongst you will be greatly received.
Thanks in advance.
Lawsy

Beverley Transport do some good deals especially if you can piggy back on a positioning trip and save them running empty

If its big enough to berth in a marina, and too big to tow behind a car then I guess its 20 feet or bigger, and as you're keeping it in Conwy I assume its a sea boat? If you can wait for the right weather in June then you can do the trip in one day, unless its a very slow boat. I don't know that area of the coast, but I know its populated so I guess there are other harbours/marinas you could go into to break the journey, or as a bolthole if the weather turns unexpectedly.

You can sail that round. Pick a nice weather window with a settled "high" and it will be a very nice trip.

You will end up with experience of taking an 18 foot boat round the coast but keep the revs down until you are used to its sea-keeping abilities.

Have fun, and if you are still unsure, I am sure a fellow forumites will do the joourney (make passage) with you? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Conwy? Are you sure you want to be there?

We have just managed to deport Hadyn and MF there from Sunny Plymouth ( even sunnier now that MF is going north).

We have only let him go because the Welsh have too good a life and we need to bring them back to reality.

You are obviously dont know the legend that is Hadyn, so before you pay your marina fees have a look here.

lensman,

sorry about that, but not being a compter geek, i have no idea how my quick reply showed up on your computer as email, or how the 're lensman, works.

However, as you seem au fait with such things and you seem concerned about it, perhaps a master class is in order /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

just click on reply on the post you want to respond to, rather than use quick reply. Rather than lots of thread drift, if you want to know more about how the software here works, start a thread in the lounge, and we can give you lots of advice
