Possibly going to need to move a Project 31' from Bray to Penton Hook Marina. On one engine. Anybody got any idea how long that trip would take?
Also, have no idea about river licence. Boat has safety certificates etc (it's been on the Ouse). What's the deal with putting it on the Thames? Cheers

Thats about a 3-4hour trip normally, try the Thames forum for more responses.
If the boat is going to be based on the Thames you will need to buy an annual license from the EA.

You can buy your river license from the EA at any of the locks along the way. They calculate it on the sq metres of water that your boat will occpy. There is a speed limit of 5 knots on the river after Teddington. Teddington to Penton is 4 hours and a lovely trip, has just done it with a client.

P.s watch out for the rowers!!!

Rgds,

Peter

Actually the speed limit in Thames EA waters is 8 kph. (Kilometers per hour). And that is defined as over the bed of the river, so best to use a GPS for speed monitoring as a log will only give you speed through the water.

What sort of speed does the current run at? I've not done rivers, but that sounds like if you're running downriver with the current speed through the water could be veeeeeery slow...?
