Moving boat base from coast to Thames?

I run my Mobo from the South Coast but living in west London, I have it in mind to move her up to the Thames next year. I would very much appreciate a chat with a Thames user regarding details such as cost, licensing, rafting, mooring etc and if some kind person could pm me I would be pleased to phone back.

No need for it to be a secret , i think all the info of costs are already on this forum . To help you out my mid river mooring in Sunbury for 25 ft is £225 ish a quater . £220 ish to the EA and a safety cert that lasts four years .
Oh and the fact that your boat seems to grow a foot a year , mine was 23' 11" when i bought it but is now 25' for some odd reason .

Or consider a Marina at around £3500 pa, with rising pontoons, each with Power, Water and lighting, and a whole host of amenities such as Shower blocks with WC's, Restaurants, Gated secure parking, Boat sales and security around the clock.

For example (A good one, mind you!) Bray Marina has all this plus an active Cruiser club which adds a whole new dimension to Thames boating IMHO.

Consider where you need to be geographically, and you're halfway there. Mike Gates of this forum is a wholly decent Marina person who could touch on any finer points (MDL @ Bray)

We used to be moored at Ting Dene at Reading, and it was a delightful place, although missing a few amenities at the time. We never regretted being there either!

Sounds like my worst nightmare to be honest . I go out on the river to get away from that crap .

I pay about 3K pa for 29 feet at Shepperton Marina with no limit on electricity.
Insurance somewhere around 300pa (includes down to Thames Barrier plus certain number of days per annum beyond)
Navigation fee around 300pa for Thames
Boat safety cert is around 100 (lasts 4 years - you need one for EA licence to NAV)
60/40 diesel at Shepperton is £0.90 per L no discount for moorers.
Pump out at Shepperton Marina £5 (or £10 for non moorers)
Env Agency pump out is about £5 (at Molesey and Boveney)
There are 2 clubs 'losely' based at Shepperton - Albany and also Walton Bridge Cruiser Club.
I can navigate to Oxford but my air draft is too much for Osney Bridge which just 7'6".
there are a myriad of places to moor overnight on the non tidal Thames .. some are remote and others not so (eg virtually below the walls of Windsor Castle). You will also enjoy access to cruising at a time that suits you ... popping out for an evening becomes a real prospect .
