moving a trailer by boat

I liked that.
At first I thought you'd made a mistake with the title. I would never thought of moving a trailer like that, but it's planted a seed!

When a daft teenager we moved launching trolleys around on top of racing dinghies when repositioning before & after winter series at other clubs; but as Dylan says that's pretty much murdering a road trailer, couldn't bring myself to do that !

Boats have been stolen on Windermere by launching them from secure compounds (fields) complete with trailer and floating them to Harrowslack (behind Belle Isle) which is a public access NT landing area.

Lakesailor,

I imagine that would take a fair size engine to overcome the drag of the trailer ?!

It's amazing what brass-necked thieves achieve, one would have thought someone would notice; presumably some sap bought the thing/s on E-Bay or similar then wondered why the bearings & brakes had gone and the thing was turning to rust before his eyes...

I got my Mirror trailer from Fisherbeck Landing to the little slipway @ Waterhead by leaving it slung under the boat. It was a slow row but not far to go.

I got a launching trolley shortly after so the road trailer didn't have to go back after I had repaired the dinghy.

I've done it with a RIB before, not any great distance and we had loads of power. Wouldn't like to try it with anything less well powered or for any length of time. It handled like an absolute pig.

Trailer trashed

It's only going to be used as a launching trolley once it's on the island.

Not like it needs brakes or decent bearings...
