Have you ever tried to pull out whipping twine that has been cross stitched looks like that?

Don't do as i did: wanted to replace mizzen topping lift with lighter line clove hitched the mousing line to the old halyard, faired off with tape and pulled only to get the now thicker line firmly stuck in the sheave and couldn`t pull through or back: £50 poorer for use of the yard cherry picker!
The pro way is to whip on a loop and bowline the mousing line to the loop

Many thanks to all for the advice; the consensus would seem to be to use something like 6mm line, although methods of attachment do vary. I do have some loops in the end of some of the halyards, so this should help. I am told somewhere like B&Q might be a good place to buy the line unless somebody knows better? I am not intending to leave the mousing lines in for a long period as we use the boat throughout the year. I'll probably start with the uphaul, as I don't use this with my cruising shoot, although this does not have a loop in the end.
