Since buying our 1992 Princess 368 we have updated a few things including the electronics. I recently noticed that the chart plotter wasn't showing any depth, just 0.0! I had had this problem some while ago and having consulted the guy that fitted the new electronics it just needed the oil refilling in the cup into which the transducer fits. My thought was that the oil shouldn't have been able to drain out of the cup but he came back and refitted the cup... Long story, short; the oil has drained out again, been refilled by me and yes has drained out again ?. Today's job is to make that cup seal good so that oil no longer leaks out. I have sanded the grp smooth were it had been rough hopefully to ensure a good seal.

My question to the those know these things is how do I proceed? Do I mix up some epoxy and adhere the cup to the bare grp or do treat the bare grp in some way to protect it from the oil? If I paint the grp before affixing the cup to the grp will the cup adhere properly enough to ensure no more leaking oil!

KIS - Got my transducer (cheap Clipper)set in Sikaflex into hull like your picture... No issues over the 10 years we've had it installed (do ensure that air bubbles are out, so wriggle about as you set it in...)

Others will be along with manufacturer approved solutions :)

You can glue it with epoxy or Sikaflex-type adhesives, just use a good thick bead and press down. I prefer Sikaflex (I have done several) because it won't run out before it sets. In warm weather epoxy without some form of filler will run out hence the possible leaks. You can use any liquid, I use antifreeze.
