I can definitely recommend them: since buying a new pair of Frank Thomas' finest I haven't been rained upon. This morning I woke up to black skies and torrential downpours, accompanied by 30 knots. I took the trousers out of the cupboard and by the time I was fully attired, it was blue skies and a gentle F4. I'm thinking of taking them sailing next time.

Do you think they heard me up there?

Got me mbike cecks on board permanent like.
Not the Full Race Leathers, there a bit awkward for crawling about decks.SWHBO Says I look like Quassimodo in them.
But I need the protection, I mean what would happen if I dropped My 1964 125 Bantam on the A55?
Don,t laugh it,s got A George Todd high compression head , "ace" bars, rearsets plus a humped back "racing" seat, got to 69 mph a week last tuesday tailgaiting an ambulance. Well you never know! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

On a more serious note (bit rich for me that comment) some of the lighter weight "off road" apparell is ideal for boaty stuff

New fangled "Goretex" type stuff arrived in the Bike World during the early 70,s
and has been developed in that Industry quite a bit since then.
So if you have a Hairy Arsed off road type Motor Cycle Emporium near you pop in sometime and check out the clearance lines you never know!

I got a Snow-boarding jacket in unfashionable yellow, all high tech breathable etc. Reduced from £180 to £20. After 4 years it's starting to leak a bit, but I'll wizz it with reproofer and it should last a bit longer.

Things may be different now, but in all my motorcycling years I never found any "waterproof" trousers that did not let water in if you rode in a downpour. The cheapest pair I had were the best, after I stuck waterproof tape over all the seams.

True but on the whole you don't go to windward at 100+ mph. Good bike pants aint much cheaper than good sailing ones, so whats the point?

they are much cheaper and they work /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

you do look like a plonker though /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I know

cheers Joe

I use motorcycle trousers on my...........scooter!

I also use a Sailing Jacket on the Scooter - best Jacket I have ever used on a bike, albeit I am no longer tearing around at 150mph and only commute a few miles or so.

One side effect is that the jacket is now very grubby (still works great!) and that when I am walking around a Marina / a Harbour I guess it makes me look like someone "who has been around a bit" on a boat - rather than being the fair weather sailor that I actually am. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Kinda like "distressed denims" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
