motorboat madness

Brothel bred b******s

I've just seen the letter and it makes me spit blood. This is the very same Charles Stock who wrote to MBY describing we stinkies as brothel bred b******s. The Mail has banner headlined his letter 'Motorboat Madness' and Mr Stock makes hysterical references to 'powerboat rage', 'primieval roar of engines' and 'removing all trace of civilized behaviour'
Mr Stock's boat seems to be a crappy looking wooden heap called Shoal Waters and I know what I'm going to do if I ever spot this pile of dog poo in the Solent

Re: Brothel bred b******s

Why do they print this crap! Yes, it's true powerboats can cause some mayhem, but so can yachts! Have you ever seen some of these people racing? thats what I call mayhem, boats hitting each other, men overboard, yachts aground because they wouldn't give way, has anybody seen any film of the round the island race? Bloody hell! that really was mayhem! I wish people like this guy would stop throwing insults around, he only makes matters worse, branding evry motorboater as an idiot, remember laddie, lifeboatmen are motorboaters!!!!

Re: Brothel bred b******s

Hmm, I know what you'll do when you meet Shoal Waters, you'll slow down and give him a wave. That'll deflate his argument quicker than anything :-)

Old Chinese proverb 'Man who sail boat into rice field, soon get into paddy'

Can someone tell us the gist of the piece...some of us wouldn't buy the Daily Mail as a matter of principle.

Might say the same about any IPC publication? Why on earth did you give him a platform to air his distorted views in MBY?

What I don't understand is why this letter has been written, let alone published, a year after the events described - and to give it such prominence makes me think perhaps of a hidden agenda (slow day for letters? friends on the staff?).
Imagine going sailing in a 16ft boat and not expecting to be tossed about - This bloke can't be real !!
Does anyone know the name of his tub ??

Re: bored of all this

I have to agree
The fact it appears in the daily mail does really destroy its credibility in my mind
can't we move on
people who rant in the Mail marginalise themselves thank god.
I wonder what he thinks of single parent motor boaters, probably would want them hung at dawn at Greenwich.

...It was like that when i found it!

Is he the same Charles Stock the writes books on Sailing, if so might explain why his rantings are published, the only place he should be is in the STOCKS.

"has anybody seen any film of the round the island race? Bloody hell! that really was mayhem! "

In all that "mayhem" there where very few collisions - along with the odd Motor Boats thrashing around - no one complained about them then - and why should they - I felt sorry for the poor buggers south of St Cats being thrown about in their finless, mastless vessels, trying to take pictures!

Re: A limp rag

The daily wail will always pick on any one who cannot fight back.So best not be an intelligent gay liberal/socialist/one nation tory single parent asylum seeker who enjoys motorboating then or anyhting else for that matter.

And the weather for the weekend is...............

Just a Thought.
I have been a "Raggie" for over 20 years and many of us know Charlie Stock and "Shoal Waters". He is somewhat admired by the sailing fraternity although a little eccentric. He absolutely refuses to sail without an engine and sails many hundreds of miles a year in all weathers.
However the most damage I have suffered is from other "Raggies" and that is when I am moored or anchored. The most help has been from "Stinkies" and in a straw poll (not scientific) the most courteous is from "Stinkies".
In an age of overcrowded estuaries / waterways, talk of licensing / legislation etc. a little forethought from ALL parties should be paramount to diffuse the "conflict".
