need to get my 54ft power from troon to felixstowe.
not enough experiance to do it myself so does anyone have any ideas of cost and who could do it please. route etc does not need to be discussed here.
by road is out of the question cos of height
thankyou .

There are some small adds in the back of MBM. Suggest you call. It might also pay you to talk to Prosser Marine in Glasgow, as it will reduce your costs if the haulier can fetch a boat in the reverse direction, so you are only paying 1 way.

They arranged delivery of my 33 footer for £800 from Glasgow to Worcestershire, so smaller and shorter distance than you, but I guess the haulier costs are not disimilar once you have the tractor and trailer unit.

What type of boat is it. cruising speed etc.

Is height the problem at the Troon end. May be worth moving round to Cumbria or Wales and have lifted onto truck from there.

I think going skipper rate is £150 per day (thats what I got paid anyway /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) and then of course fuel on that plus whatever breaks or goes wrong on the way!

thanks for your reply but as stated in question by road is no option. motorway heights. cannot be done in uk.
thanks again.

Motorway standard bridge height is 16' 6" but all highway & bridge authorities have an officer that deals with abnormal indivisible loads and the transport people speak to them. Most authorities have a high load routes for things like big transformers and chemical plant vessels. I would speak to a transport company and give them the details - it may take a day or two longer than normal but could be a lot cheaper than a delivery trip.

I had my boat delivered to the Med and bought back again five years later and I paid a fee per mile plus fuel, obviously, this way it doesn't matter to much how long the skipper takes as it's the same fee anyway.Another skipper wanted to charge a day rate for himself and crew, which considering the time both deliveries took would have been considerably more expensive.
